Meal Preparation

Part of Wellness Care · $30 an hour

Real meals, made the way they like them.

When cooking for one gets tiring, meals turn into toast and coffee. A caregiver plans, shops and cooks with your loved one, then sits down and eats with them. Good food keeps them strong, and strong is how they stay home.

Why it matters

Eating well is part of staying independent.

Poor appetite and skipped meals often go unnoticed, but they lead to weight loss, weakness and slower healing. Those are the things that make a fall or an illness harder to recover from.

1 in 3older adults in a national U.S. study were malnourished or at risk of it.
1 in 4adults 65 and older fall each year. Strength and good nutrition help protect against that.
4 hoursis the shortest visit we schedule, enough time to shop, cook a real meal, eat together and clean up.

How we do it

Their kitchen, their recipes.

Their favorites

Mom's chicken and noodles, the way she makes it. We cook food that tastes like home, so they actually want to eat it.

A seat at the table

People eat better with company. Our caregivers sit down and share the meal and the conversation.

Someone who notices

Eating less, food going bad in the fridge, trouble chewing. A caregiver sees it early and lets you know.

Signs it may be time

You might be noticing:

Old or spoiled food in the fridge

Weight loss or clothes getting loose

Mostly snacks or frozen dinners

Pots left on the stove or burners left on

Not drinking much water

Saying they "aren't hungry" most days

Any of these is worth a conversation. A free in-home assessment helps us see what's going on in the kitchen and plan around it.

Good Days OutLunch out counts, too. Many senior centers serve lunch with friends. See places near home and plan a week.
