Light Housekeeping

Part of Wellness Care · $30 an hour

A tidy home is a safer home.

Clutter on the floor, laundry piling up, a dim hallway. They seem small, but they are exactly what the CDC says to fix to prevent falls. Our caregivers keep the home clean, clear and comfortable, so your loved one can keep living in it.

Why it matters

Most fall hazards are easy to fix.

The CDC's home safety checklist starts with the basics: clear the floors and stairs, fix loose rugs, and make sure rooms are well lit. Keeping up with that every week is hard on your own.

1 in 4adults 65 and older fall each year. Falls are the leading cause of injury at that age.
Room by roomthe CDC checklist names clutter, loose rugs, stairs and poor lighting as common hazards.
Every visitour caregivers check walkways and put daily things within easy reach.

How we do it

Their home, kept their way.

Safety first

Cords out of walkways, rugs flat, night lights working. We notice the trip hazards and fix the ones we can.

Done together

If they like folding towels, they fold the towels. Helping out keeps them moving and feeling useful.

More time for you

When the chores are covered, your visits can be about time together, not catching up on laundry.

Signs it may be time

You might be noticing:

Piles of mail, papers or clothes on the floor

Dishes stacking up in the sink

The same sheets on the bed for weeks

Trash not making it out to the curb

Burned-out bulbs nobody changed

Mom apologizing for the house

A home that's getting away from someone is often an early sign they need a little help. Starting now keeps it a little help.

Common questions

No. Light housekeeping is part of Wellness Care and Personal Care, so a caregiver can tidy, cook, run errands and keep them company in the same visit.

Caregivers use the supplies already in the home. If something is running low, they can add it to the grocery list.

Not exactly. Our caregivers are there for your loved one first. Housekeeping happens alongside company, meals and help with the day, not instead of it.
