Weekend Caregiver

Caring Companions is looking for caregivers who like working weekends in Springfield.

Weekend shifts come up across our clients, days and evenings, and hours vary by client. Tell us which weekend times you can work and we will match you with clients and shifts that fit.

Some of our clients need personal care, like bathing, dressing, toileting and help with transfers. Others need companionship, meals and help around the house. We match you to what you are comfortable with, and we train you before you start.

This is W-2 employment, not contract work. You are paid weekly, overtime is paid over 40 hours, and you complete 6 hours of paid orientation and dementia training from home before you start. We ask for at least one year of paid caregiving experience.

What you would be doing

  • Follow each client's care plan and complete the care tasks assigned to you
  • Provide personal care where the care plan calls for it: bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting and incontinence care
  • Help with mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment such as gait belts
  • Give medication reminders (not medication administration)
  • Prepare meals and keep the home clean and safe, including light housekeeping and laundry
  • Offer companionship and conversation
  • Notice and promptly report any change in a client's condition, safety or surroundings
  • Clock in and out on AxisCare and finish your notes before the end of each shift

What we are looking for

  • Have at least one year of paid caregiving experience, or a current CNA, CMT, LPN or RN license
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass all required background screenings
  • Have reliable transportation and a working phone
  • Be available on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday)
  • Complete orientation, onboarding, dementia and Alzheimer's training, and annual in-service training
  • Be able to stand, walk, bend and assist with transfers, and to safely lift up to 50 pounds where authorized, using proper technique

  5. Paid training from home. 2 hours of orientation plus 4 hours of Alzheimer's and dementia training, all paid, on your phone or computer, in pieces if you like.
