Full time Springfield, MO $16.00–$17.00/hr

Caring Companions is looking for a dependable caregiver for a steady weekday schedule in Springfield: Monday through Friday, 7am to 5:30pm.

You can take the whole week, or share it with a second caregiver (for example Monday to Wednesday, or Thursday and Friday). Tell us what you can work and we will build the schedule around it.

You would be helping an older adult stay safe, comfortable and independent at home, working from their care plan: personal care, meals, light housekeeping, and company and conversation through the day.

This is W-2 employment, not contract work. You are paid weekly, overtime is paid over 40 hours, and you complete 6 hours of paid orientation and dementia training from home before you start. We ask for at least one year of paid caregiving experience.

What you would be doing

  • Follow the care plan and complete the care tasks assigned to you
  • Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting and incontinence care, and help with feeding when appropriate
  • Help with mobility, transfers, walking and fall prevention, using proper body mechanics
  • Give medication reminders (not medication administration)
  • Prepare meals and keep the home clean and safe, including light housekeeping and laundry
  • Offer companionship and conversation, and encourage social and physical activity
  • Notice and promptly report any change in the client's condition, mental state, safety or surroundings
  • Clock in and out on AxisCare and finish your notes before the end of each shift
  • Maintain professional boundaries and protect the client's privacy, property and confidentiality

What we are looking for

  • Have at least one year of paid caregiving experience, or a current CNA, CMT, LPN or RN license
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Pass all required background screenings
  • Have reliable transportation and a working phone
  • Complete orientation, onboarding, dementia and Alzheimer's training, and annual in-service training
  • Be able to stand, walk, bend and assist with transfers, and to safely support a client's mobility and lift up to 50 pounds where authorized, using proper technique and equipment such as gait belts
  • Be comfortable working in clients' homes, which may include pets and a variety of household environments
