Caregiver
Caring Companions is looking for caregivers across the Springfield area.
You would be helping older adults stay safe, independent and comfortable in their own homes. Every client has their own care plan, and you would work from it: personal care, help around the house, company and conversation, and rides to appointments when the plan calls for it.
This is W-2 employment, not contract work. You are paid weekly, overtime is paid for anything over 40 hours in a week, and orientation and training are provided before you start. Schedules are flexible, and we will do our best to build one around what you can actually work.
Experience helps, but reliability and kindness matter more. If you have cared for someone before, even a family member, we would like to hear from you.
What you would be doing
- Follow each client's care plan and complete the care tasks assigned to you
- Provide personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting and incontinence care, and help with feeding when appropriate
- Help with mobility, transfers, walking and fall prevention, using proper body mechanics
- Give medication reminders (not medication administration)
- Prepare meals and keep the home clean and safe, including light housekeeping and laundry
- Offer companionship and conversation, and encourage social and physical activity
- Drive or accompany clients to appointments and approved errands when the care plan authorizes it
- Notice and promptly report any change in a client's condition, mental state, safety or surroundings
- Clock in and out on AxisCare and finish your notes before the end of each shift
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect every client's privacy, property and confidentiality
What we are looking for
- Be at least 18 years old
- Pass all required background screenings
- Hold a valid driver's license and current auto insurance if you will be transporting clients
- Have reliable transportation and a working phone
- Meet the licensing, certification and training requirements that apply to the role
- Complete orientation, onboarding, dementia and Alzheimer's training, and annual in-service training
- Be able to stand, walk, bend and assist with transfers, and to safely support a client's mobility and lift up to 50 pounds where authorized, using proper technique and equipment such as gait belts
- Be comfortable working in clients' homes, which may include pets and a variety of household environments
What we offer
- W-2 employment, not a contractor arrangement
- Paid weekly
- Overtime paid for hours over 40 in a workweek
- Paid orientation and training
- Flexible scheduling built around your availability
- Ongoing paid training, including dementia and Alzheimer's care
