MoHealthNet Spend Downs and How to Pay Them

Medicaid may apply a Spend Down for individuals whose income is slightly above the eligibility limit. A Spend Down is the amount a client must pay each month before Medicaid coverage begins.

Each month, the Spend Down must be met before Medicaid services can be used.

- If the Spend Down is paid by the first day of the month, Medicaid coverage will be active for the entire month.

- If the Spend Down is not paid, the Medicaid case remains open, but coverage will not be available for that month.

If you have questions about your Spend Down or need help understanding how it affects your services, our team is happy to help guide you through the process.

There are 3 ways to pay your Spend Down:

This option allows for monthly payments to be directly withdrawn from your bank account on the 10th of each month.
